A nice little piece at NPR about the importance of type!
Obsessed with type and want to be part of a group where you can battle it out? You can join Typefight where there are endless battles of type 24 hours a day. Join or just vote, whatever you’re up to. But the competition is fierce so watch out!
You can’t help but love a man who knows what he’s doing with his hands! Gerard Miró of Lo Siento, based in Barcelona, takes you through the experience of going from 2D up to 4D. Pushing the viewer to see typography from above, around and below, the design team realizes its the 4th dimensions that is the missing link to have the full visceral experience of what this form can truly reveal. Enjoy~
Saw this great book by Jim Merrell called, Type Matters!. Both a typographer and designer since 1982, Merrell decided to write this book in efforts to help designers with further understanding typography. Not only is the content useful and easy to understand, but his use of type design in each layout is smart and provocative. (via Typetoken)
Stella McCartney’s Lingerie collection of “Chinese Flower of the Week” knickers were just featured on my friend’s blog, La Dulci Vida and I couldn’t wait to share! The package comes with 7 days worth of undies embroidered with the corresponding day of the week. How fun….gift idea for Mother’s Day? (then again, maybe not.)
I just saw this article on Designer Pad highlighting the great interior design of a small studio apartment. But my takeaway was seeing how the home integrated graphics and type creating a tactile experience within a living space. Take a look…do you see it?
